Eye Injuries from Sports
The following facts from a study done by the National Society to Prevent Blindness (NS to PB)
Last year there were over 31,000 sports and recreational product-related eye injuries that were treated in hospital emergency rooms. These numbers are limited to product-related injuries treated in hospital emergency rooms. The actual number of sports and recreational eye injuries could be two to three times greater than the estimate if information on all medically attended injuries was available. That translates to 63,000 to 95,000. NS to PB estimates 70,000 sports-related eye injuries occur each year in the U.S.
